Abstract

DACAYMAT, LUCILLE N., BALCITA, MARIA CONCEPCION G., MILAN, JOE ANTHONY MILAN. “Module in Computer Programming 1: Needs Analysis.” College of Computer Science. Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – South La Union Campus, Agoo, 2504 La Union. October 2013.

This study assessed the availability of learning resources in Computer Programming 1 as basis in the development of the module in the said course for First Year BS Computer Science students of the College of Computer Science, DMMMSU-SLUC, Agoo, La Union. Specifically, it determined the availability of learning resources in Computer Programming 1; and identified the level of performance of BSCS students enrolled in Computer Programming 1 during the first semesters of school years 2011-2012 and 2012-2013. The study made use of the descriptive method of research with factual inventory and document analysis as tools in gathering the data needed. The researchers used statistical tools such as frequency count and mean in analyzing and interpreting gathered data. The study found outthat the learning materials in Computer Programming 1 are available but not adequate. The results also show that the level of performance of BSCS freshmen students in Computer Programming 1 is satisfactory.
